ASTM WK91149

New Practice for NIST Calibration of Measurement Instruments

1. Scope

To define the parameters that may affect the measurement uncertainty and accuracy of a NIST traceable calibration of a measurement instrument.

Keywords

NIST Traceable calibration accuracy uncertainty

Rationale

The term "NIST traceable calibration" does not establish an inherent level of confidence in measurement accuracy, which is one of the primary objectives of a NIST traceable calibration. Also, the issue of uncertainty of the measurement is not addressed.

The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
