Committee C01 on Cement recently approved and published two new standards – C1905/C1905M, Specification for Cements that Require Carbonation Curing, and C1910/C1910M, Test Methods for Cement that Require Carbonation Curing. This ballot item proposes to add the C1905/C1905 cements to the list of allowable cementitious materials under section 4.1.
Data from a manufacturer of a C1905 cement (Solidia Technologies) was presented at the June 2023 C15.03.03 task group meeting that demonstrate that concrete pavers manufactured with the C1905 are capable of meeting all of the requirements of C936 including compressive strength, absorption, abrasion, and optional Zone 3: Severe Freezing Conditions freeze/thaw testing which subjects specimens to freezing temperatures of -15C (+5F). This data was also presented to the Concrete Masonry and Hardscapes (CMHA) Segmental Pavement Technical Subcommittee at their August 2023 mid-year meeting and they endorsed adding these non-hydraulic cements to the list of constituent materials for ASTM standards C936 and C1782. The endorsement was supported by the CMHA Board of Directors.
