To develop a standard specification to support the use of renewable, low carbon ethanol for blending with gasoline that does not contain a denaturant yet in conformance with applicable laws.
fuel ethanol
There is no ASTM standard equivalent for undenatured ethanol fit for fuel blending.
There is also a technology using denatured fuel ethanol as a motor fuel. We are recommending they use D4806 to avoid taxation. Denaturant increases CI.
Mindful of liquor taxation regulations that require a denaturant. (U.S.: $27/ gallon)
To explore a standard specification for undenatured ethanol for fuel use.
The term “denature” appears 192 times in D4806.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
