The subcommittee agreed to revise this standard. Testing of the reverse shoulder device was added to this standard during the previous major revision (2014) and was based on the practice that the reverse shoulder was a salvage procedure for those without a functional rotator cuff. Design innovation and a broadening of the device use and patient population has necessitated an update for how design features (e.g., offsets, augments, eccentricity) are referenced and tested in the standard. The use of the Universal Coordinate System was adopted, and all figure orientations have been updated to align with it. The device design features, and order of figures has been adjusted to better convey device design considerations when testing and the figure’s association with a particular methods section. All references to the use of this standard for evaluating disassociation have been removed as this standard only addresses short term fixation.
