1. Scope
1.1 This guide describes the recommended methods to measure vibration in the areas occupied by humans within fixed premises. The vibration can be caused by sources within the premises or transmitted to the premises through air, structures, or soil.
1.2 This guide does not recommend limit levels of vibration limits for any application discussed.
1.3 This guide is only concerned with vibration caused by man-made sources and their activities, such as rotating machinery, vehicle pass by, and construction activities. It does not deal with vibration from other causes such as blasting, earthquakes, sea waves, or atmospheric disturbances (wind).provides practical guidance for the measurement of ground-borne or structure-borne vibration resulting from man-made activities.
1.4 Units—The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
