The information in the general literature will be Manufacturer, ASTM, and Industry
Trade Association based.
The new Standard will cover (i.e., Resin-Impregnated Tube, Cured in Place
Thermosetting Resin Pipe, Cured in Place Liners, etc.)
The new Standard will also include (but not limited to):
• Types of cleaning procedures
• Allowable cleaning Standards and Methods
• Standard Operating Procedures
• Hazards and Safety protocols
CIPP, Cured In Place, Sewer Cleaning
A systematic maintenance, construction, inspection, and rehabilitation programs are essential elements in the management of a wastewater collection system. Preventing sewer overflows is a national enforcement priority for the EPA. The EPA's compliance goal is to eliminate Municipal sanitary sewer overflows (SSOs) from municipal collection systems and to ensure that wastewater is being conveyed to treatment plants in accordance with the requirements of the Clean Water Act.
There are currently no ASTM standards on proposed methods for cleaning Cured In Place Lined sanitary sewer pipelines. The information in the general literature is manufacturer, and Industry Trade Association based.
This standard practice provides a Standard for the Cleaning of Cured in Place lined Sewer Pipe.
This Standard does NOT include or cover the cleaning of Lined lateral sanitary sewer pipes.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
