Revision of D2068-20 Standard Test Method for Determining Filter Blocking Tendency
Rationale
EI standard IP 387 (which is not jointed, but is technically similar to D2068) was recently updated. The update was to address users purposely changing the temperature of the sample in cases of dispute such that the sample would pass a specification limit. The temperature range allowed for the sample in the test method was never intended to enable users to change the temperature of the sample to self select a particular result. During consultation some users need to work in a wide temperature range due to the environmental conditions they are in, and so it was decided to use text which was specifically for cases of dispute. In addition apparatus is available to control the sample temperature. This was discussed extensively in the D02.14 meetings in December 2021 and June 2022, the SC-E Chair was consulted, and the final text being the output of the discussions. It was also noted during the discussions that 300 s could mean 251 to 349 seconds and so 300 should be represented as 300.0 s.
