1.1. This specification describes the data file format that shall be used for both required and optional biodetection data.
1.2. This specification’s purpose is to provide a uniform format for data to be output from biodetection instruments for use in biosecurity applications. A standard format enables interpretation of data without reference to manufacturer’s documentation.
1.3. This specification applies to the output, including measurement data and results for any analysis performed, of biodetection instruments.
1.4. This specification is designed to be independent of hardware platforms, computer languages, and operating system (OS).
1.5. This specification does not address instrument control, data transmission protocols, or the physical media used for communications.
1.6. This specification addresses data related to detection of microorganisms, including bacteria, archaea, fungi (yeasts and molds), and viruses, as well as their biological constituents and components such as toxins.
1.7. This specification does not address data related to non-microorganisms, such as humans, animals, or plants.
1.8. This specification does not apply to clinical data
