This Guide is intended to be used by sensory, consumer, consumer insights and marketing research professionals (referred to as the “researcher” or “research professional”) as an aid to understanding issues associated with conducting category appraisal tests with consumers. This Guide includes an overview of the reasons for conducting Category Appraisals, the steps that are typically associated with Category Appraisal research, the statistical analyses that are performed and examples that illustrate potential outcomes of the research.
