This practice is intended to provide practical and consistent methodology to aid landowners, planners, developers, and other end users in recognizing and documenting the presence of karst features on a subject property.
karst; pseudokarst; site reconnaissance; site characterization
The complicated geologic and hydraulic conditions associated with karst terranes can be problematic for land development, management, or conservation depending on the planned end use of the site. To address potential challenges to development or to other intended end uses of karst sites properly, it is necessary to characterize the karst features and landforms present and their potential impacts to current and future land use.
The title and scope are in draft form and are under development within this ASTM Committee.
