As presented in the Nov. 2021 ASTM F04.22 meetings (see minutes), Christian Kaddick led a discussion regarding issues identified during the use of ASTM F3090 at high loads (that is, approximately 7kN) including failure at the shell/support interface, or failure of liner fixation. Others also confirmed such issues at high loads when they used this test. Christian suggested that the meeting consider incorporating a performance criterion into the method, that is 5340N, like ISO 7206-6. There were additional suggestions that if this load is not attained that a lower load could be justified with a comparison to a reference device, with testing performed under identical conditions. The action item is for Christian to propose a performance criterion to add to the standard and ballot this language in a subcommittee ballot prior to the next meeting of F04.22 (May 2022). John Goode suggested that other standards like ISO 7206-6 and F2068 may have useful language with which to start. Outlined below is the revised draft for Subcommittee ballot.
