C1754 is part of a small suite of test methods that provide for quality control and evaluation of pervious concrete. Along with C1701, it is one of only two methods used to evaluate the concrete following placement. A previous ballot to reapprove the test method was failed due to negatives requesting that the precision and bias be updated and the method was subsequently withdrawn among a lack of committee participation. While the ASTM subcommittee has not been active of late, the standard is of utmost importance to the industry as a whole. The standard is being balloted for reapproval in its current state, with hopes that the current upswing in the pervious concrete market and the return to in-person committee meetings will result in increased attendance and renewed interest in the C09.49 committee.
