ASTM Committee D26 on Halogenated Organic Solvents and Fire Extinguishing Agents was formed in 1958. D26 meets twice a year, at the January and June Committee Weeks, with about 15 members attending two days of technical meetings capped by a presentation on relevant topics in the industry. The Committee, with a current membership of 30, has jurisdiction over 59 standards, published in the Annual Book of ASTM Standards, Volume 15.05. D26 has 7 technical subcommittees that maintain jurisdiction over these standards. Information on this subcommittee structure and D26's portfolio of approved standards and Work Items under development are available from the List of Subcommittees and Standards. These standards have and continue to play a preeminent role in all aspects important to the promotion of knowledge pertaining to virgin and reclaimed halogenated organic solvents, and fire extinguishing agents, including formulation of specifications, practices, definitions and methods of test.
